ABOUT OPENDESK PROJECT

The openDESK project is a response to that need of all NON-IT basic education teachers and educational managers to discover, install, and use fully functional computer applications in all of the school's computers. It identifies, reviews and promotes open standard software that will realize performance improvement of learning and teaching through technology enabled 21st century education for all.

The openDESK acronym means open digital education software kit. It promotes desktop application and Internet services that embody:

1. No-locked-in, and sourcing options in technology acquisition
2. Usability alignment to the teacher's learning design
3. Uphold open standards principles and inter-operatibility competencies
